Among the best hypercars, Koenigsegg is here again to prove that the hypercar-manufacturer is still in the game with a lot to show. Taking you back two years ago, the Bugatti Chiron managed to get to 400 kph and then stop in just 41.96 seconds making it the first car to hold this record, but not for a long time! Koenigsegg was there a few weeks later and completed the same task in 36.44 seconds with the Agera RS. Little did Bugatti know that their rival will come a month later and improve its record in Nevada by lowering the time to just 33.29 seconds!
Now back to September 2019, Koenigsegg decided to try its latest model the Regera at the Rada airfield in Sweden. Factory driver Sonny Persson succeeded in lowering once again their own world record of the 0-400-0 kph run to just 31.49 seconds! Impressive right?
As you can see from the video, the Regera reached to 400 kph in 22.87 seconds and managed to get back to standstill in 8.62 seconds. But is this all that Koenigsegg can do? You might have to consider this again! If you watch till the end of the video, you will hear the CEO and founder Christian von Koenigsegg saying that the car “broke a couple of new world records” mentioning also “this is a huge top speed, but we have faster top speeds cars”. Then Sonny Persson hands over his drink saying “hold my beer” which could be a sign that they have already tried the same or other car and got it to a faster top speed.
However to reclaim the title for the fastest production car, they have to beat the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ which managed to get to 304.77 mph (490.48 kph) earlier this month. You might say that this was a prototype, but a limited production car is confirmed to get out with the same spec and only 30 will be made. But even if the current models cannot beat the Chiron, Koenigsegg has already introduced its newest model Jesko which they claimed can reach 300 mph. We just have to wait!
